The wind is ever present. It goes where it wishes, does as it pleases and without a plan. The same can be said for Marcus and Harald at Select Model Management and Louis at Wilhelmina Models. These three young faces make London look like a small hometown, exploring the concrete with an open mind and an apple or two. Their playful and boyish mindset is captured by London based photographer Trisha Ward, who knows just as much about the city as the courageous young men in her Issue 12 editorial images.

Her pictures for our latest Spring Summer '17 issue become the personification of the modern boy, documenting the ways in which they mess around. Something that is peculiar to boys and boys alone. Friendship is framed within the images, an honest vision of boyhood with no illusions necessary. Those moments when we still have time to lie on the hood of a car and hang near boulders, still embracing the fragments left of our childhood. It’s a quick intrusion into the history of the modern boy, a through back to their adventurous youth. Trisha eternally freezes these moments in, so we’ll never forget these modern sentiments of a teenage boy.

Stylist Siobhan Lyons brings colourful playfulness to the scene with Breton stripes, bucket hats and the ever cool polo shirt. It’s the uniform of the boy, an easily structured style that can be picked up off the bedroom floor and adorned again, after being flung there the day before. With a twist on school boy chic with shorts and matching jackets, there comes a moment of freedom and recklessness - skipping school to play football in Fila shorts and Adidas socks.

Take in the full feature, beyond this brief teaser, in our brand new Spring Summer Issue ‘Young Hearts’, which is now available to buy in selected stores and on our website.
