Tim Baker takes a few moments with us

2 August 2011

Tim Baker (Premier Models) takes a few moments to talk to us about perfect weekends and cycling.

I started 'modelling' in my friend Matthew Laskey's (excellent) photography coursework at school during A levels, and carried on when he went to study at LCF. In summer 2007 he demanded to send my photos to Premier Models. I was called in for some polaroids and modelling for real went from there. He never lets me forget that it's him who got the ball rolling, and whenever I get paid I take him out for dinner.

My favourite modelling experience is probably when it was decided Matthew's photo would be on the front of our school leavers book, primarily because the headmaster despised both of us and did everything in his power (and failed) to get it changed.

When I'm not modelling I spend a lot of time studying, travelling, reading and doing sport. I couldn't do without my bike and my laptop. I haven't got time for a gym so cycling round London keeps me fit.

My perfect weekend is spent at a summer festival. I love the way nothing outside the fence matters and for 4 days you see every single dawn. I don't know where I'll be in 5 years time, but I hope I still have time for lying in the sun, although it may have to be on a Sunday then rather than a Tuesday afternoon, who knows...

Doing this little Q&A has proved a welcome distraction from my essay on behavioural economics. (Well, you're ever so welcome Tim. We aim to please.)

Tim xx
