Another hour spills across the invitingly warm concrete and so does Adam, surrendering to the pavement’s unyielding support. Their jumper anoints them a pupil of the “ambush academy” in a shock of crimson across soft aubergine. The discman skips across familiar tracks while Adam watches Salome and Eliott invent, flounder, and triumph. Every attempt offers exhilaration and opportunity - a chance at something amazing or, at the very least, interesting. Adam breathes in the clear air punctuated by sharp steel, the metallic twinge of gravel playgrounds or blood seeping from a small crater in your gums.
Across the park, Salome and Eliott cling to one another, sharing the sensation of each other’s skin separated ever so slightly by mesh perforations. The effortless sinking into one another might remind them of softness among their inflexible landscape. In Enzo Touzi’s styling, the two play off of each other, trading a bare chest for bare legs but both draped in pleated skirts. Shocks of white meet scrapes and bruises, the successes and failures melting together in a muddy black and blue. Prod the tender spots and savour the dull sting. Hours of experimentation dedicated to understanding the flow of the concrete current, when to yield and when to charge. Laura Friedli’s lens suspends Eliott in subdued glory - haloed alabaster relishing a moment of flight. The moment is just that though, and there is no illusion among them of an ethereal world, just one that is crude and good.
The day begins again in the afternoon. Morning unfurled in all its grandeur and soft brilliance. Shadows crept into nothing and commence their next elongation. Barely-there clouds conspire to weave their gentle tendrils into an empyrean veil. Ringing buildings dispel sneaker clad bodies, shoving them out push bar doors. Inert energy hums to life in the gentle heat. Fences stripe the periphery of every memory like the striping of old film.
