“I feel like there's a lot of weight on who I am, and it’s such a privilege to be in a position with any kind of platform. So while it’s here, I wanna take it to the highest height I can. Many people can go a lifetime just believing that they’re insignificant. I just hate that.”
Victor Ray is a bit of a powerhouse. He’s as cool and collected as a gentle breeze on a summer’s day or a beam of sunlight breaking through the rafters of a forgotten East London factory. With his tall frame, gentle demeanour, infectious confidence, and deeply personal music, it’s no wonder the twenty-five-year-old has grown a following of over five million on social media. Since he started out busking at age eighteen, Victor has released four EPs, completed an international tour, and evolved into an artist who has total ownership over his identity.
Dancing amongst the dust motes and graffiti-tagged tiles, we now find Victor on the precipice of a pre-destined level-up. Powered by faith in himself and the divine, the Ugandan-born Newcastle-raised musician is on a mission to redefine pop music and make his listeners feel truly seen along the way. Hope attracts hope, and it’s this ideology that keeps a smile on Victor’s face and conviction at the core of his being.
