“Sometimes, we want things to be done in a certain way at a certain time, but [John and Francesca] let go of the reins and allow the story to flow like a boat on the sea. It went wherever it wanted to go. Sometimes, in life, if you allow things to work out, they often do.”
Now and then, there’s a particular stillness that settles in before an interview. Anticipation softens into something calmer and more grounded. That feeling arrives as I prepare to speak with Victor Alli, an actor whose presence has always carried an understated steadiness, for a second time. The last time we spoke, he was new to the world of Bridgerton, poised on the edge of a story that was only beginning to unfold for both him and his character, John Stirling. Now, after completing another season, he steps into our conversation with the quiet assurance of someone who has lived a little more inside that world.
We begin with the familiar: what it was like coming back to set, how John has grown, and the experience of watching new cast members step into the swirling, vibrant world of the Ton. Then, our conversation widens as we discuss preparation, imagination, and humanity. As so much of the world around us becomes automated, it’s increasingly comforting to hear Victor speak about details that anchor him: the rhythm of jazz, the lines of a building that bring him pause, the fleeting, unpolished moments that spark joy without asking for attention. They are observations that an algorithm cannot replicate. His reflections form a portrait of someone navigating his craft and his life with intention, curiosity, and a grounded sense of self, holding tight to the parts of humanity that are easiest to take for granted and hardest to fake.
Bridgerton Season 4 Part 1 releases on Netflix on 29 January 2026, and Part 2 premieres on 26 February 2026.
