There are few things more grounding than a skincare routine. As you wash the day away, some residue of stress and worry floats down the drain, even momentarily. It's ritualistic - there's comfort in being alone and doing something solely for yourself. We learn to be gentle with ourselves. We learn that a scratch comes easily, but it can also heal.
Cecilie, our Editor-in-Chief, shot this story for our anniversary issue, reminding herself of the ephemeral moments she has bottled like lightning for over fifteen years. About creating Boys by Girls, Cecilie says, ‘I wanted to create a platform where the photographic curiosity of the real person behind the public surface was captured and interpreted.’
During our shoots, the camera clicks the moment the lens is forgotten, as talent laughs at a joke in the background, letting their shirts wrinkle and sleeves roll up. The boys dance in the studio and actually try the products from Joonbyrd, InnBeauty Project, Anua, Dr Althea, and Sachi.
