Justanorm For Issue 6

17 April 2014
You guys know the Justanorm boys right? Those handsome boys with the wonderfully infections energy. We first met Harry Uzoka when he was photographed in his personal space for issue 2. A couple of years later we then met the whole Justanorm gang, and they had us at hello. We were hooked.
It was inevitable that we had to invite these boys to be in issue 6 "The Truth About Boys". There is something about their infectious personalities and the brotherhood between them that needs to be shared with the world. We brought in one of our favorite gals Alina Negoita to photograph an exclusive 14 page story with them, and stylist Alexander Harley to make them look cool.
Captured in Jamel's home (whose mother welcomed us with tea. Perfect. We love tea!), the series interconnects with the boy's fun loving nature, spirituality and raw honesty. For those of you who didn't know already, Justanorm is a collective of six models in London: Boyd Alves (Premier), Chuck Achike (Premier), Dylan Williams (Elite London), Harry Uzoka (Premier), Jeremy Boateng (Nevs) and Jamel Gordon-Lynch (Models 1). There is a true sense of community with these boys in the way they support and share one another's visions. They are the kind of friends everyone wishes they had.
The boys describe each other in a heartwarming interview in the issue with words that is valid proof of their solid friendship. They use words like "motivator", "charmer" and "genuine" about each other. In her own interpretation of how she sees the boys and the day the BBG team spent with them, Cecilie writes in the issue:
"The boys of Justanorm are friends. They are brothers. They are family. They celebrate the good moments together and carry each other through the bad days, helping each individual in the group to grow, to achieve more and be a good man. They see friendship as commitment and have an enviable respect for each other, like you would have for your own family. Their friendship is golden, and they honour it. Like some sort of secret society - and we all want part of it."
Merging the classic and the cool, stylist Alexander Harley brought in pieces from Paul Smith, Lou Dalton, Matthew Miller, McQ by Alexander McQueen and Givenchy, allowing the boys personality to play a par alongside the casual clothing. Inspired by the six-strong unification that is Justanorm, Alina snapped away to her heart's content to create an editorial that is both mesmerising and beautiful - whilst capturing a spirit of youth and an aura of fun throughout the story.
To see more of the boys and their story of brotherhood, you can pick up our newly released print issue "The Truth About Boys" here and share Justanorm's rare and infectious energy.
