Justanorm All Evening

29 April 2013

If you were keeping an eye on the BBG website and our coverage of the London Collection: Men back in January, then you would have seen a rather marvellous piece featuring and written by some of the coolest boys in town. A model collective going by the name of Justanorm, we immediately fell in love with the group of guys and knew we would have to keep track of them and what they were getting up to in the modelling world. From London’s best agencies, each of the boys: Harry Uzoka and Boyd Alves at Premier Models, Chuck Achike and Todd Taylor at FM Models, Jeremy Boateng at Nevs Models and Dylan Williams at Elite Models London, bring their own personalities to the group.

As such a large group of guys, its obviously difficult to pin them all down at once, but we almost managed it. We were happy that six out of the eight guys made it to the shoot with Cecilie Harris; and the result is a unique capture of an amazing group of friends, and let's not forget top model boys! Even Todd, expecting a little baby girl, made it to the shoot, and only a few days later became a father. We will always be happy to know we were able to capture him and all his mates just moments before such an important milesone in his life. And it highlighted perfectly what this group of models are all about; friendship, family and standing together through everything.

On the day of the shoot we went to meet the boys at their go-to London location; it could only be Brick Lane. Meeting them just as dusk hit and the sun set over the Jewish quarters of the East End, we visited some of their favourite spots in Brick Lane, including the infamous bagel shop they love to go to. PS if you haven't heard about the bagel shop then get on it. A 24hr supply of fresh bagels with delicious fillings... ummm yes please!

We're not sure we've ever quite met a group like them, and we love the atmosphere they create in a room when they are all together. It's electric. They bounce off each other with jokes and stories of what they've been doing in the fashion industry, and are great support for each other, making their modelling careers an even stronger experience. These are all accomplished models, walking fabulous fashion shows, and booking wonderful campaigns, editorials and all, and being able to go through it together is something we learned thas become important to the boys. It's very exciting to be work with such an awesome group of top models, and the boys are so full of youth and vitality. We're also pretty sure that they are the coolest looking guys in London, each with their own unique style. It is clear that they've picked up some tips along the way on their fashion adventures.

Considering themselves a family, the sense of brotherhood between these guys is awesome, and we are a little jealous we are not guys ourselves and part of this group of friends. During our hours with the boys we captured their energy, coolness, beauty, and witnessed them rapping and dancing in the street between shots. Photographing boys being boys and the brotherhood between them was inspirational, and a fun way to capture them.

Check out the boys in the full feature below and make sure to also take a look at what they all got up do during the Men’s fashion weeks in January here. If you want to keep track of their journey then go follow them on Twitter, Tumblr and Instagram.
