Faces of Summer 2012: Elliot

17 September 2012

Elliot Stevens (Select), skaterboy and sweetheart, was one of our "12 Faces of Summer 2012". Photographed hanging out at the park by Cecilie Harris, Elliot looks smart styled by Kristine Kilty in designs by ASOS, Baartmans and Siegel, Topman and Hush Puppies. He also chats about his modelling experiences and how he likes his tea British and his food Italian.

His modelling and skating skills (and blonde hair!) make for an amazing editorial in "Leave The Boy Alone" shot earlier this year. Elliot also featured as Chapter 1 in "The 4th Floor" and is also to be making an appearance in "A Place Called Youth".

Name: My name is Elliot Stevens
Age: I’m 22 years old
Location: I’m from Manchester, well near Manchester anyways, living in Hackney now though.

How long have you been modelling?
I’ve been with Select for about 3 months now.

So how did it begin?
Well I was in Manchester just walking down the street with one of my mates and then some guy approached us, gave me a card, and was like, “D’you wanna be a model?” and I was like “er, ok, I guess” and then, yeah, took some photos, sent them off to the first agency I was with and then just was with them for a few years and just decided to change a few months ago.

What have your modelling experiences been like so far?
They’ve been really good, it’s been a pretty crazy experience, I don’t think I would have ever been doing any of the things I have done if I hadn’t of fallen into it, so it’s been good. I did some stuff like Topman, couple of years ago, which was good. Did a denim video for them, then I did a limited range previous to that. And I did a shoot for Vogue last year which was really sick, just skating around this park on some quads, cos we had this girl in a really nice scenic park and stuff so that’s sick.

What’s your dream modelling job?
I’d quite like to do something like Burberry or something like that, or any kind of British designer would be pretty sick. To be the face of a British designer would be really cool.

What are you passionate about?
Skating. Skating’s like my big thing. I’ve been doing it for about 10 years, so that’s definitely something I would be doing full time if I wasn’t just doing this.

So that’s rollarblading, not skateboarding?
Yeah, it’s kinda like skateboarding, you still have the grinds, the jumps, all that kinda thing, but you’re on roller blades.

3 random facts about yourself?
I like competing in competitions around the world, skating.
I can’t go anywhere without my own cups of tea, like teabags. It’s really weird but wherever I go I need to take my own teabags with me cos sometimes you get to a foreign place, and they just have, I dunno.

You mean when you go abroad somewhere, or have you come here with teabags?
I did do last time to be fair! I’ve not brought them this time.

What brand are they? Any specific ones?
They’re not specific brand no, no, no. They’re usually decaf teabags cos I can’t really drink caffeine, cos it just makes me like… so, yeah.

One more fact?
One more fact, er, let me see, one more fact… I love cooking. Cooking’s a big thing.

What do you like cooking?
Usually Italian food, I quite like making pasta dishes and all things like that. Yeah, that kinda stuff.

"My agency haven't seen this injury yet."

What 3 things do you love?
Er, oh my god, my girlfriend. Haha, no I dunno. Let me see.
I love travelling.
I love going back home, to see family and stuff.
I love London. I think London’s a sick place to live.

How long have you been in London?
I’ve been in London since last September. Me and my girlfriend moved down here, so yeah, about a year now.

3 things that you really dislike?
The Underground.
Flying. I don’t really like flying.
Erm, let me see. Being hungover.

What do you hope to be doing in 5 years?
Just, as long as I’m successful in whatever comes my way, then I’ll be happy. As long as I’m content and stuff, so yeah, I dunno. Probably still modelling. Skating, hopefully.

If you were to organise a flash mob, what would you do? Everyone gets out teabags and has a tea party?
Hahaha. I dunno, make up some kind of stupid dance and everyone would just have to join in. Like the Macarena or something, haha.
