“A couple of weeks ago, we had our London premiere for MobLand, and I had five minutes to spare before I had to go in. It was a real pinch-me moment. It was a moment of both impostor syndrome and absolute excitement. If I strip it back to basics, I'm still the little boy who dreams of something much bigger.”
Anson Boon always wanted to be an actor. There was no backup plan - only pursuit of the craft. Working with the likes of Kate Winslet, Pierce Brosnan, Tom Hardy, Helen Mirren, and now Guy Ritchie on his latest project, MobLand, Anson has found himself in great company. He’s learning from his peers with the same gusto he had at a young age, a spark he hopes to never lose. And he relishes in it - the grind, the hustle, the challenge of cracking into a character and finding the nuance beneath.
In MobLand, Anson puts us to the test. It would be easy to dismiss his character, Eddie, as a layabout hot head with nothing better to do than pick fights. But when he speaks with us about the role, it’s clear that there’s so much more to Eddie than meets the eye. Though his chosen profession is one rife with the constant potential of rejection, Anson doesn’t let that deter him. That wonderous drive to tell stories and play for a living energises him. During our chat, it’s clear that at his core, he’s still the same kid who fell in love with Warner Bros. iconography during a watch of Looney Tunes, seeing it in his hometown’s water tower, a constant reminder that anything and everything is possible.
