Youri The Beautiful Belgian

16 July 2013

We sat down with the gorgeous Youri from Premier Model Management during our Boys of Premier shoot by Cecilie Harris. This was the 19 year old's first time in London, and he told us what he likes about the capital and why he is under the impression all Londeners are polite (we didn’t have the heart to burst that bubble).

This head strong Belgian knows what he likes and doesn’t compromise (he is very passionate about how he likes his tea, we like this!). He is impartial to Paris, infatuated by Milan and says he is a little confused about the amount of kisses per greeting ‘‘In Paris its 2 kisses, in Belgium its 3’, we say ‘You can give 3 kisses if you want too’. Youri has an obvious passion for people and carries Belgian chocolate with him wherever he goes, which is a definite plus in the BBG headquarters.

Hi Youri, tell us a little bit about your modeling journey so far.
I was discovered by an agent in Belgium called Hakim. He called me and one month after that I went to Paris for three weeks, then Milan for two months, then Amsterdam for one week, Paris again and now I am here.

Tell us three random facts about yourself.
Three facts. Three good facts. I’m very social. I like helping other people on the tube .. everywhere. I guess helpful. And I don't know how do you say it. Brave? I would like to be brave.

What else are you passionate about besides modelling?
I like to build up relationships with people. Know the people I work I with. That is important to me.

What is the craziest shoot you’ve done so far?
The craziest shoot I think it was a commercial for Longchamp in Paris.

And what did they make you do?
I was riding a bike, a really old school bike. It was fun, and I had to do it like twenty times, I was just going round in circles.

Where is your favorite place you’ve modelled?
I think it was Milan, it was very friendly. If you compare it to Paris, if you ask directions in the street people are very busy in Paris, but in Milan they are more helpful.

And how are you finding London?
For the moment it’s fine. I’m happy when I see people, when people are waiting to cross the street and they wave to the driver, for me thats very important. To say "hi" and "thank you", it's polite.

I guess us English can be polite when we want. What do you like the most about London?
I think ther is a lot to see in London. You never get bored. On every street there is something going on. There are lots of people in London, and I don’t feel alone. For me that is very important.

What do you miss most about home when your away?
Umm .... Nothing.

Nothing?
Hmm maybe my mum .... a little.

What was your favorite childhood possession?
I think my gameboy?

What was your favorite game?
Pokemon.

Do you bring anything from home with you when you travel?
I always bring Belgian chocolate with me..

(Our faces light up)
He whispers that he didn’t bring any today unfortunately,

(We sigh)
Because I gave some to the woman at my home, but she ate it already.

Aww we love you anyways, it was a pleasure shooting you Youri. Make sure to come back and visit us soon... Bring chocolate!
