Running from one end of London to another, presentation to show, show to event. Rushing to capture as much as you can, as quick as you can. Fashion week is full of hasty catch-ups and frantic sweats, where time slips through your fingers until before you know it, preparation starts for next season. E. Tautz puts a hand on your shoulder and stops you in your quickening path - inviting you into an oasis in the midst of mayhem. A moment to breathe, stillness to reflect. Pause.

The show was a welcome hiatus in reference to English new wave band Japan’s 1979 album Quiet Life – ‘that’s all we ask for after the turmoil of the past 12 months’, the press release simply uttered. Understated and modest, the designs were dipped in hues of navy, beige and chocolate brown, with subtle checks and stripes. The label is known for its relaxed tailoring and Patrick Grant’s SS18 collection was on brand with loose fits perfect for a hazy summer - the season to ease the grip of control and let your reserves fly. If not in wide leg trousers, the leggy boys walked in short sport shorts and we couldn’t help but smile with pride as we watched our issue 12 cover boy Bradley Phillips strut his stuff along to English indie rock band alt-J’s new album.

Accessorised with Louboutin shoes and glasses by Kirk Originals, the looks were chic and elegant, but with a hint of playfulness updated the traditional style, evolving history into modernity to mark the brand’s 150th anniversary. The way E. Tautz has developed with the times without losing its past voice, has allowed the brand to continue season after season; stopping you in your tracks each time. With this tranquil collection, we’ve sensed the first few breezes of the warmer months, longer days and afternoons that stretch into lazy evenings. But for now, it is time to return back to the chaos of the weekend.
