Fionn Creber For “Lessons”

6 March 2019

Photographer Cecilie Harris brings you a stunning feature for the fifth Boys by Girls issue “Lessons”, inspired by the idea of eternal youth, a theme that is an integral part of the Boys by Girls concept. Cecilie is drawn to capturing the growth from adolescence into adulthood, and after meeting during fashion week this year, it turned out that Fionn Creber at Nevs Model Management was the perfect boy to tell this wonderful story of fleeting childhood.

‘Forever is a really long time’ is a quote taken from the book Peter Pan, and was what provided the inspiration for this feature. Cecilie and Fionn explore this place that is eternally frozen between infancy and adulthood, creating wonderfully nostalgic images that are more like pieces of art than editorial photographs. Cecilie states that the image of Fionn stretching for light is ‘one of the most beautiful photographs I have taken all year’. This particular image as well as the rest of the series showcases Fionn's talent as a model and how he is able to go somewhere else with his poses, acting as he works. After studying acting at school he knows how to portray a story with conviction, which transcends into these images and gives them an informed beauty.

David Nolan approached the styling for this shoot in a timeless manner, using the classic tailoring of Turnball and Asser shirts and woolen jumpers from Oliver Spencer and Paul Smith. Although the clothes are all from AW14 collections, David chose enduring pieces that place Fionn in an ageless space. Fionn is also partial to wearing his dad and grandfathers clothes, creating a quirky individual style that matches the style of the shoot and bought him even closer to his character. We were also excited to have pyjamas from luxury sleepwear designer Derek Rose, which worked perfectly with our Peter Pan concept and enabled Cecilie to take the shoot to a new level of beauty.

This story was shot at Fionn’s home just outside London, where he lives with his family. We really relish capturing the boys in their natural environment, and it has become somewhat of a trademark for Boys by Girls. Photographing the model where they feel most comfortable and volunerable, allows for the most enchanting photographs to be captured.

Make sure to get yourself a copy of the issue to see the full story.

We want to say a big thank you to Fionn’s family who welcomed the team with open arms, feeding us lunch, countless cups of tea, and even some wine before driving us all back to the station. Thank you so much for having us!
