Hazy summer days. Fevered shouts. Boys running on a football field. Their bodies sweaty and pumped with adrenalin by the excitement of the game. You aim for the goal and stay persistent. Nothing can hold you back. This is your game. This is your moment. All eyes on you. And then this rush of happiness that fills all your every blood vessels as you run forward, whilst the wind hug your face.
It was on a day like this that George at Elite Models was scouted as a model. Though not being able to continue playing football due to an injury he still relates this profound feeling when running for shows in Milan, or shooting campaigns. This offered him a whole new world where traveling, meeting new people and discovering other countries is part of his job. He loves the excitement of figuring out life on his own, learning a new language and finding home, as well as love, in a complete different place on the world.
Tell us a bit about yourself.
I like sports, especially running and football. I also enjoy taking a walk outside.
How long have you been doing modeling for?
I have been modeling for half a year now.
Instant Analogue by Saskia Pfeiffer. Special thanks to IMPOSSIBLE.
Do you enjoy it?
Yeah, I really love it. It’s really easy work and I get to travel a lot. You get to know people and see different countries and cities.
Do you like meeting new people?
Yeah, it’s a good experience.
What new things have you experienced in London?
It’s nice and I love it. Everybody is so nice here. Back home it’s very calm, not as busy as London. I like that.
What do you like doing in your spare time?
I take a stroll around the city and play FIFA, haha.
Where are you staying at the moment?
I’m staying in a model apartment.
Do you like it?
Yeah, it’s ok.
Do you miss home?
Yeah, I miss my friends and family and especially my girlfriend.
Are you close with your family?
Yes, very close. I speak to them every day.
And what does your girlfriend think of you doing modeling?
She’s a model herself.
Do you get to travel a lot together?
No, unfortunately not, but we met on one of our castings in Milan.
Did you go up to talk to her?
Yeah, I saw that her name was Romanian too, so I started a conversation. We got along really well and it was nice to meet people from home.
What’s your favourite thing about modeling?
Doing a campaign, haha. And I love walking on shows.
What kind of music do you like?
Hip Hop. Wiz Khalifa, ASAP Rocky and so on.
What were you like growing up?
I was all about football. I played it for nine years, but then I had an injury on my knee and couldn’t continue playing.
Oh no. Is that when you started modeling?
Yes. Two years ago some one approached me and asked me if I would like to be a model, but I declined. And one summer later, I saw that same person again and this time I agreed.
Did you find it hard speaking english when you first came here?
Oh, yeah. Haha, the British accent is quite hard to understand.
