Jasper & His Dream Island

21 May 2013

Back in January we briefly ran into 21 year-old Jasper at Elite Models just before the Katie Eary show during London Collections: Men, but we thought that you lovely lot should get the chance to meet him properly. We got Jasper in for a relaxed studio shoot in front of Cecilie Harris' lens to capture this super cool guy - meanwhile we managed to sit down for a chat with him. His chilled-out attitude and super creative mind was a wonderful distraction at BBG HQ.

Jasper is a hardworking university student constantly bombarded by his studies (he arrived with a rucksack full of books when we first met him) and has big hopes for the future. Like his dream Island, inspired by the film "The Beach' (very realistic dream). On top of that is his bendy contortianist skills and dreams to travel to space - Jasper is a pretty interesting guy. We do love to hear about our boys' special talents and crazy adventures, it keeps us ticking. While we're loving his current model persona, we can't wait to see what he does next. After all, we can only expect great things from a boy who's already been Batman and a pro-footballer (at least in his imagination).

Check out Jasper's interview below and if you haven't already, go take a look at his portraits by Cecilie here. We are sure you will love him!

How did you get into modelling?
I bleached my hair and I basically got scouted when I was out in London at a gig by menswear designer Katie Eary, and ended up doing a show for her in January. That was pretty cool.

What did you think of her collection?
I really like it! Her stuff is bright, vibrant and just really cool. And I got to wear vampire fangs, so that was fun!

We last interviewed you in January, what have you been up to since then?
The London Collections: Men was so exciting 'cause I had shows, and it was an amazing week. I also did a shoot for the Topman website. And next week I get to go to Nuremberg to do a show for Adidas so it's pretty exciting.

In your opinion, what is the most beautiful thing in the world?
Oh erm haha, the Boys by Girls website!

…why thank you Jasper (we blush a little).

Do you have a guilty pleasure?
One of my favourite films is Bugsy Malone. Is that a guilty pleasure? I can sit down and listen to the music all day long.

Do you know all the words to the songs?
I know quite a few of them. I'm not going to sing them now haha.

Do you have any special skills that we should know about?
You already know about me being able to bend my little finger all the way to the back of my hand. I can also put my foot over my head. Yeah… weirdly flexible, one day my leg is just going to come off haha!

Why didn't you do that during our shoot! What do you do in your spare time?
If I have any spare time at all I watch films, but Uni and modelling is taking up most of my life at the moment.

Do you have any plans for the summer?
Crossing fingers I will do a lot of modelling. Then next summer me and my mates are thinking of going to Brazil for the World Cup and doing a bit of travelling. Maybe California as well, because I really want to go there at some point.

What were you like as a 5 year-old?
That was my transition age from being Batman and Peter Pan, and then a world class footballer.

Tell us more about your journey from Batman to a world class foorballer?
So I guess I was a pretend professional footballer, then a bedroom musician pretending to play bass. I think reality kicked in and then I went to school and Uni. Now I'm a model, that's something.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I want to find the beach, have you ever seen the film 'The Beach'? That's what I want to do. Find the Beach. I'll tweet you when I find it!

What would your dream modelling job be?
A big campaign would be amazing! Burberry or something like that. Standing next to little Romeo Beckham, that would be cool.

If you won the lottery, what are the first two things you would buy?
I would buy an island - and get tickets to go to space! You can do that now. I love space. I think it would be an amazing thing to do.

What would you do with your island?
I'd turn it into 'The Beach' and travellers could find it. To be free and easy. It would be good fun - barbeques on the beach every day!

Do you have any final words?
Thank you for the wristband and the free t-shirt!

Thank you for the chat Jasper! We look forward to being invited to your island.
