Peace, Love and Harry

6 March 2019

We love Harry Curran at AMCK Models. With his long flowing locks (that quite frankly we are a bit envious of) and many talents it’s not hard to see why. When we asked him to draw us something for our Christmas project, he sat on the Boys by Girls office floor in silence staring at the paper for quite a long time (points for taking it so seriously) before he created the most charming little illustration ever!

We last met Harry this summer when we captured these cute images of him, and we can't wait to see him again. We have some secrets up our sleeves.

How did you get into modeling?
I live outside of London in Hertfordshire and I was going to see my family who live in Southend. I thought I'd just go down for the weekend. I never really went into London but I went out to a reggae dance and was getting the last train home, got the train with 3 minutes to go and then this dude came up to me in ridiculously baggy clothes and asked if I had ever considered modeling and I thought ‘this guy is taking the piss!’ But he kind of pitched it to me and I took his card. I went home and told my mum and she thought it sounded good. He rang me up the next day, so I went down there the next day and did a catwalk show.

You did a catwalk show that day?!
Yeah, I can’t remember the name of it!

So how long ago did this all happen?
It was SS13.

What shows have you walked for so far?
I did Rick Owens, Paul Smith, Diesel and Marc Jacobs in New York. That was my best one.

Polaroid by Cecilie Harris.

Why was that the best?
It was one of the last shows, fashion week was finished and I wasn’t signed with anyone in New York so I just kind of thought that was it. I'd had a good run. Then my agency were just like ‘Harry pack your bags, you're going to New York, you’ve got a direct booking with Marc Jacobs.’ I was literally like ‘what?!’ I didn’t see that coming! Next thing you know, I was in New York. I got off the plane and there were some dudes holding my name on a card and they drove me into the city. They gave me this speech showing me all the sights; it was one of the best days of my life. The hotel they put me up in was just off time square.

Did you know any of the other boys who were walking in the show?
Yeah, I met a few of them before I got to New York, and we had all been put up in the same hotel, which was fun. We had one day, which was the fitting, then the next day we went out and explored, then we did the show and on the last day we did all the tourist stuff.

That sounds amazing. So outside of modeling, what do like to you do?
I like to draw, read and I like to watch a lot of anime. I also collect records.

Does the anime influence your drawing at all?
Yeah it has started to, I used to love drawing portraits, like real life, people's faces. I think because when I was younger I used to watch Dragon Ball Z, and then I think it was my brother who introduced me to anime and I kind of got addicted to it.

Whats your favourite anime?
Hunter X Hunter.

How would you describe yourself in 5 words?
Grungy, long haired hippy, I don’t know!

Any final words?
One Love.

Thanks, peace out, Harry. We will meet again somewhere under the stars.
