Ysham For Issue 7

6 March 2019

Loose curls sit just above his shoulders as he glides from room to room. You may recognise him dressed in Prada, Givenchy or McQueen, but photographer Sophie Mayanne executes this shoot for Issue 7 perfectly; intimately photographing Ysham at AMCK Models in his own home, in the heart of Soho.

When Ysham enters a room an air of calm and relaxation is restored as he begins effortlessly performing infront of Sophie’s camera. Originally from France, Ysham definitely holds the definitive ‘cool’ that most of the French population carry. As he playfully works the room he tells us about one of his passions; boxing, his career in boxing and how he feels his ‘fro is a key feature to him (which we wholeheartedly agree with).

Sharing a small preview below, you get a feel for Sophie Mayanne's approach illustrated in minimalistic monochromatic images, creating the most appealing serene atmosphere using Ysham’s carefree personality fully to her advantage. Her use of prosaic locations brings all focus onto Ysham, but the subtle softness creates the feel as if we were watching from a distance. Stylist Kitty Cowell styles him in a mix of smart-casual clothing, mixing up contrary brands such as James Long and Cheap Monday creating an effortlessly offhand cool.

Printed on gorgeous, thick, uncoated pages, this feature truly comes to life on paper. Catch more of Ysham's trademark ‘fro inside Issue 7. Make sure to get your own copy while it's fresh in stock.
