Video: Carl Hjelm For Issue 8

6 March 2019

As Carl Hjelm at Supa Model Management is intimately brought to life in this video by Cecilie Harris during their day capturing issue 8 editorial "The Trouble With Carl", you get a small insight into the Swedish boy's charachter. What lies beneath the surface of the tousled hair and deep eyes? What stirs in his mind as he twiddles his fingers and stretches his arms as far as they go across the table. Most of his troubles are his own secrets.

In our moments of adolescence, we all remember the solitude where we pondered upon life's mysteries and the trouble of the day. As he is captured by the camera, Carl jokes "Look, I'm a troubled man defeated by himself!". Continuing to gaze into the empty space, he seeks solice on floors, in corners and as close to the wall as he can make it. You can imagine the troublesome teenage angst, honests words written into songs and on paper. These are the intimate moments that are discovered behind closed doors.

"I love capturing Scandinavian youth. They have this raw honesty that other cultures are not brave enough to reveal to others than themselves. Carl brought exactly these golden moments to the shoot. It felt like home." - Cecilie Harris

Carl mentions how he is comfortable in his own company, and Cecilie plays on this in her documentation of the Scandinavian boy.
