Twisting Toye

30 July 2015

Look up, let the brief wind blow across your face and lightly through your hair, feeling every stroke. Walk with confidence, let your body fall, shake your head as fast as you possibly can. Be a crazy cat, because you can be whatever and whoever you want to be. Put your headphones in and pretend you’re in a music video. Shut the world out for a moment and replace any negativity. Rebel against the norm, you know you want to.

Photographer Sophie Mayanne captures Sam Toye at AMCK Models through a string of characters maintaining a soft motionless expression throughout this portrait series. Sam breezes through each frame that incorporate elements of a contemporary dance. It’s time to soak up the sun. Run. Push. Twist.

Stylist Harshad Gadhvi integrates a neutral colour pallete with a dash of orange tone. In this sequence of black and white images intertwined with the subtly saturated, he dresses up the chilled sweats and denim with a classic trench coat. The tailoring of The White Briefs shirt and Christopher Shannon shorts are paired with bulky boots and a backpack that reacts as statement pieces to the outfit.
