Portraits Of Red

17 October 2014

It only takes a few seconds for a complete air of calm and mystery to be created as Red, the embodiment of beauty within the modern day man, stands in front a lens and engulfs you fully; hair tumbling past shoulders, delicate eye contact, distant gazes.

Casting her own subjects for her new book, Exoplanetology, featuring Nevs Model Red, photographer Sophie Lobban has unearthed something wonderful by capturing his very distinctive looks, which would most definitely stand out in a crowd. Red has a unique androgynous look. He is appealing to both men and women, and at the same time has features that both males and females would covet for themselves. Women will look on enviously at his waist length hair; men at his lithe, toned body.

Styled by Scarlett Giannotti, the strong look of Red is softened and romanticized by Scarlett’s simplistic and subtle choice of clothing. Styling Red in only black, and placing him in the middle of a stark white room, gives his commercially unconventional beauty even greater impact.

What really results from Lobban’s photography and Gianotti’s styling is a model who has an almost ethereal quality, appearing aloof and unknown...androgyny at its best.
