Nothing But Thieves for Issue 11

6 March 2019

Looking out into a sea of thousands of people; it’s a breath-taking view seen from the main stage at Reading Festival. Editor-in-Chief, Cecilie Harris, is a fly-on-the-wall for the day as British alternative rock band Nothing But Thieves prepares to live one of their dream of playing Reading main stage for our Autumn Winter '16 issue.

"It was such a childhood dream to be able to play the Reading Festival main stage. I used to read the lists, and whoever was on main stage I thought; ‘God, they are there for a reason, you know?’, so it’s really cool. Breathtaking crowd. Amazing moments. I was trying to be as normal as I could, but I was so taken back by it all. It meant a lot, and was just amazing! I could see my mum dancing on the side of the stage."

Featured for the third time in our print issues, this is a more mature and confident band we meet this time. And as Cecilie sits down with lead-singer Conor, the print feature let's you right into the hearts of what it is like to tour the world and head into the public eye. Conor talks openly and heart-warmingly as much about the challenges you face, as well as the breath-taking moments they as a band get to take in.

"We have been writing about the human psyche, which is one of the themes in the second album. I think it’s really important to be honest and not be afraid of it. So many people hide it all, boys in bands especially. I think it’s cool and important to share a sensitive side."

The issue 11 interview touches on how masculinity is changing; how vulnerability, staying grounded and open communication is a sign of strength. To read the full interview and take in the full series of images, the issue is available to buy in stockists and via our website.
