From the moment we saw Astrid Andersen rise to success with her graduate collection at RCA in 2010, this young designer has never failed to disappoint since.
With her most recent AW12 collection, Astrid stayed true to her unique style whilst creating an eclectic mix of vibrant men’s tailoring influenced by both urban music and gang culture. Her signature string vests, puffa jackets and everyday sportswear were blended with high-visibility materials and neon colours that gave her designs more of a contemporary edge.
One of the inspirations behind her collection were Shaolin Monks of China where it has been said that one Shaolin Monk equals 1,500 soldiers in a battle, and with this aspiration, Astrid created her Autumn/Winter 2012 collection – to dress men to feel 1,500 times the man. With the help of Simon Foxton, together they achieved to create a look that is masculine, using street attitude and hip-hop references whilst playing on more feminine materials and colours. Teamed up with gold-foil nails and Maori tattoos painted across the models' chins, they created a vision of a modern-day man who is confident, powerful and sexy.
In collaboration with Elite Model Management London, we caught up with some of the boys. Check out extracts from Jack's interview below.

Jack Manhood, Elite Models (above and below).
How are you finding the show today?
It is great fun – as you can see the shows are always a bit mad! [Pointing to his painted chin and gold-foil nails]
What keeps you going during the hectic show season?
I think it is everyone being here, the whole atmosphere! The energy of the entire place, it is really hectic now but in the end everything always comes together.
Do you have special good-luck charm that you always take with you?
I have a gold ring that is in the back of my jeans now, I wear it to all my shoots and some photographers let me leave it on whilst others ask me to take it off. That ring means a lot to me because it used to be my granddads and then my dads… And then it got passed down to me!
