James Long has become one of the most sought after designers at London Collections. Perhaps it's his way of reinventing the classics, be it leather, sheepskin or double denim. James Long dived into a bit of nostalgia with his AW15 collection, as the designer looks back on his first ever menswear collection as an influence.
Denim appeared distressed and patchworked, with exaggerated detail and the clear importance of function. Mixed media was key throughout the collection, as James Long used layers and patches to create the perfect balance of a rugged and collected, with a very cool take on classic work wear. Lace and illustrations were mixed with a focus on functionality to create an overall set of hoodies, loose jeans and cargo trousers. Biker jacket and hood combos added to the cool vibe - and will be sure to be on every boy's wishlist.
Showcasing the collection we spotted BBG familiar faces Max Streetley (D1 Models) from our latest issue, Simon Kuzmickas (Established) and Simon Fitskie (Elite Models) amongs others, creating and all strong model cast.
The ragged, incomplete (in the best ways, of course) finish is becoming a popular trend this LCM, with Agi & Sam
, Matthew Miller
and now James Long, all searching for the balance of beautiful imperfection in their own unique ways.
