Kissing Kate for “Lessons”

25 November 2013

If there is one thing the Boys by Girls photographers like to do, it is to keep challenging ourselves and bringing new things to our audience. That’s why we are so happy to feature not just one, but two girls in the new BBG issue "Lessons". For really, what are boys without girls anyway?

Exploring a different side of youth and the lessons we learn along the way, photographer Cecilie Harris decided to tackle that most serious of all lessons - young love and friendship. We all remember a time when we just couldn’t seem to make up our minds on who it was we fancied, when crushes changed from day to day and we were constantly confused between love and friendship. Of course we needed the help of a gorgeous heroine to portray our love story, and we couldn’t have chosen anyone better than the lovely Kate Howat at Elite Models. While we are constantly falling in love with boys, in this story Kate has boys constantly falling in love we her - take Tom Leigh (Elite), Isaac (Premier) and Alex Heerema (Premier) for example, all looking for her effection.

Shot on location with the styling of Karen Munnis, we tell a story of boys-meet-girl with a whole lot of great fashion. Featuring poloneck’s from Pringle of Scotland, Allsaints and Sand, shoes by Grenson, Stone Island and Mr. Hare, and an incredible kilt by Topman Designs for the boys, Karen showcases our models with a perfect balance of debonair yet casual. She dresses Kate in a beautiful Amen dress, one of those can't-live-without shirts by Palmer//Harding, a pair of Missoni trousers and some beautiful pieces from Pringle of Scotland, giving a chic yet young vibe to the shoot.

The youth of the cities must find their own entertainment amongst the tall buildings and rows of houses, so we headed to the basketball courts and the football pitches in the parks of South West London to capture a glimpse into the life of a teenager. Dayaruci and Julie Jacobs were on hand to make everyone look fabulous with their hair and make up skills.

Check out a preview of the editorial below, and make sure to get your hands on a copy of the new Boys by Girls issue ‘Lessons’ while you can!
