“Pressure? I thrive on it.”
Ezra Frech is fearless. Brimming with poise and on his marks, his spikes are set and he’s raring to go. Ezra may come across as just a “regular teenage kid”, but his story is truly extraordinary. As a Paralympian, it is not his disability that defines him, but his unwavering ability to reach new heights…quite literally. You could say Ezra has conquered many hurdles in his time, both on the track and in life itself. Becoming an amputee as a child imbued him with a profound sense of pride, purpose, and presence of mind.
In his stride to set new world records in the high jump, long jump, and hundred-metre sprint, Ezra is paving new opportunities for all fellow disabled individuals across America and beyond. Though the Paralympics was always Ezra’s calling, from the day he discovered his voice, he has been advocating for greater inclusivity on the world stage. Everyone deserves sporting opportunity, and through his foundation, Angel City Sports, Ezra is determined to make that happen.
With the Paris 2024 Paralympics on the cards, a gold medal is certainly within his grasp. For him, the medal can already be felt against his skin. The day he receives it will just be a moment of déjà vu. Every leap and every stride is a testament to his unwavering dedication and the spirit of possibility that drives him forward. In a world where barriers often seem insurmountable, Ezra Frech stands as a shining beacon of hope, reminding us that with perseverance and passion, anything is indeed achievable. With the love and support of his family behind him, Ezra knows no fear. So, as he sets his sights on Paralympic glory, the world watches with bated breath, ready to witness the remarkable journey of a young man who defies limits and embraces the extraordinary.
“When I was eleven, I vividly remember watching the Rio 2016 Paralympics on TV. Seeing people like myself competing at that level was a game-changer. I had this moment, this epiphany, right there in my living room…I turned to my parents and told them that I was going to make the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic team.”
