We always like going back to basics. Taking a new angle on our signature boys at home approach, we stick to documenting the boy of today in their home also for Issue 7: Obsessions, but this time in the comfort fo their pyjamas. Boys by Girls has a history of documenting the fleeting nature of the young boy, it was this that inspired our very first "Boys At Home" exhibition. Taking a documentary approach we search for the candid beauty, and the truths that aren't often captured.
Some things can not be shouted from the rooftops, they must be whispered. These images are precious, because they are the real every day life set before us, the life that happens to pass by without a secondary thought. The images offer a consolation of reality, a side of boys that isn't often showcased. The home is an intimate space - the space where we grow, think, sleep and live. The space where we stare at our ceiling for hours, tracing the cracks in the wallpaper. The walls where we paste our obsessions and relics, and decorate the floor with castaway objects. The place we call our very own.
These photos are ones you have to take some time to enjoy, as the true beauty is in the small details that shape these boys surroundings. Be it the cast-away pyjamas Simon wears, the wrinkled sheets Joey lies in, or James' handwriting sprawled across his walls. The small treasaruable elements that give an insight into their private world.
Jim, Charlie, George and Joey give you a teaser below from this 8-page "Boys In Pyjamas" feature that can be found inside Issue 7 'Obsessions' (It includes even more boys and even more pyjamas). Make sure to get yourself a copy to let the beauty of all eight images, captured by seven of our talented photographers, hit you as your turn the pages of our latest print issue.
