BBG Loves: Saint Laurent

7 July 2016
Whether you want to protect your eyes from the sun (stay with me Brits), or the general public from the sight of your hungover bloodshot eyes (there we go), what is the one necessity during the long summer days? Sunnies. Not just any old sunnies, but Saint Laurent sunnies. Now that the sun has emerged, we've found our summer fling.
Picture yourself speeding through the 1920s British countryside in a convertible MG, with a pale blue silk headscarf billowing in the wafts of your carelessness. Or perhaps you prefer to lounge on the candy-striped vintage deckchair in 1960s Coney Island; wherever you may be in the swirling timelessness of summer haze, the 'cat-eye' shades are there, watching.
This season, they've pounced. Cecilie Harris photographs BBG boy Sam Alexander (Established Models) sporting our new favourite accessory. Saint Laurent's 'NEW WAVE 98 California' sunglasses emphasise effortless chill; we are obsessed. A classic style worn by icons from Audrey Hepburn to Kurt Cobain, they blur history and gender boundaries. Feline feels have framed the faces of Harry Styles and Dougie Poynter already this year, as well as hiding models' tired eyes during the mayhem at LCM.
Bigger is always better when it comes down to accessories, and their gloriously exaggerated shape is sure to hide your multitude of sins (don't worry, we won't tell). As far as hangover cures go, these are pretty damn good-looking, however, their glamour lasts beyond the morning after by adding a crisp slice of chic as part of casual daywear.
In complete contrast to the bounce and historical reminiscence of the Californias, the 'NEW WAVE 1' sunglasses combine sharp volumes with angular lines to create understated power with a subtly futuristic design - it's child's play after all. Tried and tested, they will make you look fabululous whether you're lying in the park with friends, lying by the pool on holiday, or lying on the floor by the bins with your head on a skateboard. Ok, we only tested one of these locations, but if they look this good doing the recycling, imagine the possibilities.
