Anna Bu Kliewer for Issue 12

10 May 2017
For our Spring Summer 2017, we brought in London based mixed media artist Anna Bu Kliewer, to interpret our issue theme 'Young Hearts'. Furthering her expression to bring in her inspiration from our issue poet, Christopher Raley, she creates three unique and stunning art pieces to sit next to the three poems within issue 12. Using her love for mixed media to create the exclusive art works, the issue 12 reader is able to really experience the beauty of these expression. The three double page art pages within the issue, allow you to spend hours simply dwelling in the art, beauty and imagination of it all.

Working in both analogue and digital collage, Anna plays with curiosities, and challenges perceptions of identity and nature, intertwining the tales of her work with a series of poems. With faces missing throughout Anna's work, one start to ask questions around the challenges of identity and who we are - questions not purely exclusive to those within their youth. We are shielded from others and ourselves.

Anna plays wixes colour and black and white, and a variety of paper cutting and collage techniques, to create these stunning visuals for the Boys by Girls readers. As you are brought on a journey through this series of three - you are invited to experience the progress of a youthful mind to the grown man perspective. Reflecting on youth from different perspectives, there are moments within these pages where all ages will feel at home.

Artwork always looks better, and it's true beauty can only fully be experienced in print. See all three of Anna's exclusive issue 12 art pieces in our brand new Spring Summer issue ‘Young Hearts', which is available to buy online and in stores now.
