LCM: James Long AW14

8 January 2014

Yesterday we felt like we had just taken a small trip into outerspace with James Long's AW14 collection. Plastic electric blue hair and geometric prints filled the catwalk, and we suddenly felt nostalgic for the future (if that's even possible).

The collection came in form of innovative bomber jackets, turtle neck jumpers and voluminous trousers coated in red, green, blue and yellow solid shapes that could be spotted a mile away. James Long isn't one for holding back; but that was never a secret. The garments are functional and sportswear-esque as Long pairs his futuristic looks with corresponding black grey and white trainers.

A lovely touch to the AW14 show was Long's dedication to stylist Bryan McMahon. In an industry like fashion it is easy for one to forget just how much effort goes into a collection, and how many individuals are involved. James Long may be just one name, but behind the designer himself is a team of talented and driven creatives helping him along the way. The dedication started the show in a nice light - and we couldn't help but notice that the styling was pretty darn amazing. Where else are you going to find blue plastic hair?

Elite Models London dominated this catwalk with, Abel van Oeveren, Almantas Petkunas and Harry Pulley showing up on the runway, and Storm boys Dominic Carisch and Edward Wilding, as well as familiar Jakob Scott at FM Models taking part. Well done boys, we hope the blue hair came off okay!
