Faces of Summer: Sam A.

22 August 2013

21 year old Sam Armstrong at Nevs Models has already won the hearts of the Boys by Girls team with his kind and loving personality. Naturally, we were very excited to have Sam photographed by Cecilie Harris, styled by PC Williams, for our "Faces of Summer 2013" series. Sam is having a very impressive start to his modelling career, walking for designers such as Alexander McQueen, Lee Roach, Agi and Sam, Kenzo, John Galliano, Paul Smith, and Walter Van Beirendonck during his first season this June. His also recently shot the SS14 Collection from Au Jour Le Jour in Milan.

Sam has an infectious quirkiness and edge that we adore. We don't know if it is his fun curly hair or great cheek bones, but Sam has a unique way of bringing simple poses and making them very interesting. Sam's winning look is captured beautifully by Cecilie, as the pair worked together to create the image series below.

This boy has a creative soul, loves traveling, learning new cultures, and finding new things to cook. We always love a man who can cook! Behind his heart melting sincerity, and his constant smile, Sam has all the personality traits to make him one to remember. To add to our love, Sam has a edgy look that is making people take a second glance when they see his unigue and intriguing features. If you want to score the perfect date with Sam, we asked him what his ideal first date would be like. You can read below to learn all those details, plus all the other reasons to adore him!

Model SAM ARMSTRONG (Nevs Models)

Hi Sam, how long have you been modeling for?
6 months.

What have you been up to recently?
I recently shot in Milan, shooting for "au jour le jour" which was quite fun, and very hot. I have also been busy building my book up, and London has been a great place to meet so many creative people! I'm originally from Australia and with it being much smaller, there isn't as much opportunity there so getting to be modeling here is fabulous.

What shows did you walk for this season?
I walked for Alexander McQueen, Lee Roach, Agi and Sam, Kenzo, John Galliano, Paul Smith, and Walter Van Beirendonck.

Nice! Can you describe yourself in three words?
Interested in life.

I was thinking three separate words, but I like that answer!
Ok, good because that is a hard question. haha

What are you passionate about?
I am very passionate about exploring, seeing new places and meeting new people. I love cooking and like to take photos as well. They all kind of fit together somehow. You can travel, eat food, and take photos!

You love cooking! What is your favorite dish to prepare?
My recent love is Vietnamese food. When I was in Milan I found an amazing little Italian restaurant, which gave me a new appreciation for Italian food. It is not all about carbs, they actually have very delicate and simple dishes as well.

Do you remember the last time you were embarrassed?
The time I forgot to wear my underwear to a shoot! I just wore my jeans and it was too late when I realized I didn't have anything under them. Luckily, the guys at the shoot had underwear, and I even got to keep them!

If your house was on fire and you had to save one thing, what would you run out with?
I would save my photos on my hard drive, because they are irreplaceable.

What would you say your best feature is?
That I am quite humble. As far as a physical feature I love my hands, because they remind me of my father's. They are so big, and like bear hands!

Describe your perfect date.
A really nice meal and some wine, I love red wine. After dinner we could go on a midnight stroll, because that is always so nice. If I could be somewhere like Venice, Amsterdam or the regents canal here in london, I would have a little boat and paddle somewhere. I think it would be quite special, and then maybe a little kiss on the boat, under the moon.

How romantic! What would you do if you were given three wishes?
I would wish there was more blueberries in Australia. I love the berries here, they are so cheap and good. In Australia they are so damn expensive! The next wish would be that we would all get along better, so there wasn't any hatred in the world. The third wish would be a genie. So then a genie would give me more wishes!

Do you have any final words for Boys by Girls?
I read a quote the other day that was quite nice. It resonated with me at the moment and it went something on the lines of ; " In 20 years from now, you are going to regret the things you didn't do more than the things you did do. So throw off those bow ties, sail away from the safe harbor, and catch the trade winds in your sails. Adventure, explore, discover." I thought that was quite inspiring.

What a great way to end an interview! Thanks for bringing us a constant smile all day Sam! We adore you.
