BBG Exhibition “Imagined Songs”

16 November 2016

Opening the curtains on an icy day in London, we couldn’t help but feel we were miles away. 712 to be exact, in the sunlit alleyways of Barcelona. Last Thursday, Editor-in-Chief Cecilie Harris ventured to see our old friends at Wer-haus for the opening of a second exhibition hosted by the concept store. Nestled amongst the cool interiors, the works of our female photographers yet again came to life.

As the darkness of night crept in, the space was buzzing with the passionate and engaging creatives of Barcelona, opening its arms for Boys by Girls. We drank wine, we chatted, we laughed. Faces filtering in, some familiar and some new. Yet all bright-eyed and intrigued by our vision, each with their own personal perspective to share.

This unique concept store allowed us to unravel the true essence of Boys by Girls across their space. Divided into two collections: a "Boy" collection, made up of ten stunning prints selected from our two 2016 issues, and a "Fine art" collection, including two triptychs from new issue "Imagined Songs". Stretching across the exhibition space and cafe/bar area, the prints tell the stories of the contemporary boy as told through the eyes of our female lenses.
They say you can tell a lot about a person by looking at their friends. Luckily, at Wer-haus, Boys by Girls is in great company; the exhibition and print copies of Issue 11 are spread amongst the landscape of cutting-edge menswear names such as Raf Simons and Gosha Rubchinskiy, as well as in the bookstore that boasts a selection of wonderfully unique magazines and art books. We left feeling deeply inspired and with the knowledge that our voice is being heard.
The 2016 Print Collection includes 16 photographs carefully selected across issue 10 and 11. If you are in Barcelona, the exhibition will be up for the next eight weeks, so do stop by to take it in. Images from the exhibition are available to buy directly at Wer-haus, and can also be purchased online through the Boys by Girls web shop.
Just in time for Christmas, you can surprise a friend (or yourself, cause lets face it; gifts to ourselves are the best) with something really unique and beautiful for your home walls.
